Piano lessons in WatfordJo is passionate about helping students to develop the skills needed to become independent as pianists and musicians, so music theory, sight-reading, technique and aural development are all covered in lessons. Jo favours an integrated approach, so many elements are taught within the process of learning pieces, though she also uses games to teach and reinforce key points; beanbag composing being a favourite for youngsters in the early weeks of learning!
Children receive weekly 45-minute or 30-minute lessons. Adults and advanced pupils are likely to prefer lessons of 45 minutes or an hour and may choose weekly or, if sufficiently advanced, fortnightly lessons. Jo teaches all ages from 5 years upwards and is a qualified Early Years teacher. Jo is a registered teacher with ABRSM and students are able to take exams with this or other exam boards if desired. Exams can be a great motivator, but they are not compulsory. Jo sees them as a wonderful way to show all that you have achieved and how far you have come, not as the sole aim of learning. |
Current Tuition Rates (up to date in May 2024)
30 minutes £23.50
45 minutes £33.50 60 minutes £42.50 Rates are reviewed periodically, but a half-term's notice will always be given for any increase. Music books (which Jo will advise on) and exam/festival entries are not included in lesson fees and are paid for separately as appropriate. Jo teaches from her home in the Nascot Wood area of Watford on a lovely Eavestaff upright piano. Students will need an instrument to practise on, preferably an acoustic piano or a touch-sensitive digital piano that has weighted keys. To make progress, regular practice is necessary, so it is a good idea to get into a practice routine as soon as possible. Due to Covid-19 changes, masks are required to be worn for in-person lessons To find out more, contact Jo to ask questions or to arrange a free, no-obligation visit where you can meet Jo, see where she teaches and ask any questions. |
